Redefine “Treat Yourself”
“Treat yourself” used to mean Whisky Sours. It still can.

YOUR MINDFUL MOMENT
For years, “treat yourself” was code:
- Had a long day? Treat yourself to a G&T.
- Survived the week? Treat yourself to a few beers.
- Kids finally asleep? Treat yourself to a large glass of wine.
And it did feel like a treat. In the moment. That first sip felt like relief, reward and permission to exhale all rolled into one.
At Christmas, that need can feel even greater. You’ve spent weeks socialising on command, and that drink can feel like the treat you’ve earned.
But what if you redefined what a “treat” means to you now?
Could it be something that actually restored you? That left you feeling better in the long run instead of just in the moment.
Going to bed early. Reading for an hour. A hot bath. A walk in the cold air. Saying no to something you don’t want to do and ‘Hell yes!’ to something you do. An amazing low/no whiskey sour in your favourite glass.
Reframe to reclaim
- List three treats that restore rather than deplete you: Sleep, movement, connection, rest, space, smooches with your partner…
- Reframe the narrative: Treating yourself means choosing what makes you feel good.
- Notice the long-term: Short-term relief vs long-term wellbeing — which are you choosing?
